The restaurant

About this place

The menu at Taichung Meatball has just three items: a ba-wan, served with either fish-ball soup or glass-noodle soup. MICHELIN says the shop has operated since 1933 and is known for its no-frills cooking and low prices. The big, translucent dumpling is filled with peppery ground pork and topped with thick soy paste and a sweet white sauce made from sticky rice and cassava flour.

It takes cash only, and hours can be irregular, so phone ahead.
