The itinerary

  1. About 40 min

Stop 2: Milk tea on Sinle Street

Sinle Street's tea shops earned it the nickname Milk Tea Street, and Hwada Milk Tea's main shop is at No. 101, per Chinese Wikipedia and Wikivoyage. Wikivoyage lists hours from about 09:00 to 22:00 (an older listing), so go by the shop; pearls are usually an add-on.

  2. About 50 min

    Stop 3: Cheng's Noodles, an 80-plus-year-old brunch

A noodle shop in Lane 201 off Sinle Street, its broth made from bones, chicken and vegetables; Michelin says not to miss the pork offal. Open 08:00 to 15:00 daily, cash only. If you would rather have rice, Beigang Tsai San Dai (Michelin's 'Bei Gang Tsai Rice Tube') is at 166 Hexi Road and closed on Wednesdays.

  3. About 1 h

Stop 4: Pier-2: a stroll among the old warehouses

The Pier-2 warehouses date from 1973 and are now an arts district. From Exit 1 of Yanchengpu metro station it is about a 5-minute walk south to the Dayong warehouses, from Exit 2 of Hamasen metro station about 2 minutes east to the Penglai warehouses, and the light rail stops at Dayi and Penglai. Follow the warehouses toward Hamasen and the Gushan ferry pier.

  4. About 30 min

Stop 5: Ferry from Gushan to Cijin

The Gushan ferry pier is near Exit 1 of Hamasen station (O1) on the metro's Orange Line, about a 10-minute walk per Wikivoyage. Boats run from about 05:00 to 02:00 at intervals of roughly 5 to 30 minutes depending on the hour (gofunit, 2026; Chinese Wikipedia says about 5 to 7 minutes at peak); check the posted timetable.

  5. About 2 h 30 min

Stop 6: Cijin Old Street and seafood

The old street and Miaoqian Road start right off the pier, lined with seafood restaurants. Wikivoyage suggests ordering one dish more than there are people; ask prices first. Evening snack stalls sell grilled squid to eat as you walk.
