Overview
Warm up with a bowl of danzai noodles at Small Park in the late afternoon, then head about 1.5 km north to Garden Night Market for oyster omelet, sausage and stinky tofu. Both are open together only on Thursday to Sunday evenings; on other days try the breakfast trail instead.
Opening days and hours change, so check before you set out.

About 1.5 km north of Simen Road; a taxi is simplest, and the market page has bus details. The market opens at 17:00, so get in while it is quiet and enter from the Hewei Road end at the north.

Five small stops between dawn and early afternoon along a short run of streets in West Central District: beef soup, milkfish congee, savory rice pudding, braised pork rice with side plates, and shaved ice to finish. Go on a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday, when every shop is open; most close on Mondays and Yuan Zai Hui also rests on Thursdays. Order small portions or share, or you will not make it to the end.

Start with a bowl of braised pork rice in Qianjin, wander Yancheng's Milk Tea Street and an old noodle shop, walk past the Pier-2 warehouses, then ride the ferry from Gushan to Cijin for seafood. Best Monday to Saturday, since the Qianjin shop is closed on Sunday.

Begin with gua bao in Xinxing, work through Liuhe Night Market, ride the metro Red Line four stops to Kaohsiung Arena for Ruifeng, and finish with a bowl of braised pork rice on Liwen Road. Ruifeng opens Tuesday and Thursday to Sunday and Chunlan Gua Bao is closed Sunday, so the best nights are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
